Using Digg

I've used Digg for quite a few things.
It's nice to be able to use it for marketing your own site.
Here's my latest post.

Man Builds Custom Knives to Suite Your Needs

Kind of a cool concept. J-Kil Cutlery makes find custom hand made and hand forged knives. I called this guy up to see what the scoop was. Apparently, he's and old dude who makes knives out of old steel and things. He's been a metal worker for 40+ years and knows his steel. He's a local hit and has been selling hand made kinves just by word of mouth for nearly 15 years. He recently enlisted help to develop a web presence to try to expand his business. You can find his new website at http://jkil-cutlery.com

If you are looking for a good hunting knife, or task-specific knife, this guy can build them.

A must have Writing Tool

A personal Authoring Catalogue collects your ideas for writing. It's an excellent tool that you can use to keep track of topics and titles that you would eventually like to write about. When you're ready to write, your authoring catalogue will put you on the right track.

Wonder where kids get crazy ideas?

The internet of course. After linking through some news on over the counter medicine abuse, I came across a website that instructs kids on what to buy over the counter at places like Walmart and CVS. It explains in scientific terms how drugs, like Dextromethorphan, work on the brain and nervous system and why it will get a person 'high'. There is even an FAQ Guide to buying and using cough supressants, such as Robitussin, as a legal high

http://third-plateau.org explains it all. Even has a support forum if you are having trouble getting high on off the shelf products.

Why is the site still up? Well, apparentley, it's shrouded in the veil of Harm Reduction Information. As in, What not to take to get high and what will kill you if you overdose on. It's seemingly safte to provide people with this kind of information, so that they don't take the wrong dosage or the wrong product in their trek to tripping on easy to obtain medicinal peperations.

Guns and Ammo Shortages?

So, I've been hearing these stories lately, from friends, family, old-timers. Much of it is heresay, but lots of it is fact too. It's near impossible to go down to the local sporting goods store this week and buy any type of ammo you are seeking. Sure, the popular calibers exist, like .22 and 12GA, but some of the higher demand ammo, like that for the SKS rifle, are near impossible to find in some areas.
I also spoke to a pawn shop owner in East Texas recently, he told me that his orders for new guns are at an all time high, and that he ordered more guns in december for buyers, in one month, than he did in the previous year. He also stated that he had always stocked a variety of guns in store for walk in customers, but he can no longer keep his shelves stocked, the guns sell as soon as they are shipped to his store.
"There seems to be a fear, that the new presi is gonna abolish gun rights!" he said.

Much of the news that hit the streets is laiden with political fear mongering. This country was founded upon the bravery of men with guns. Even though we're many generations past the point of our forefathers taking ownership of this great nation for their own, the story of the minute men, Paul Revere, and George Washington are still being passed on from one generation to the next. It seems next to impossible that the state of the nation would fall to the point of fearing an uprising from it's citizens. Apparentley, not everyone feels the same way...

When I asked that old gunny in the pawnshop what other items were selling like hot cakes, he replied, "Deer Corn, clay skeet targets, hunting licenses, Just stuff like that!"

I'm relatively good at googling and cross referencing things on the net, but I couldn't find any method in which Wild Deer food, or clay disks could be used to start a revolution, but I'm sure the politics in Washington could.

Are Anti-Depressant Safe Long Term?

I have always been wary of any SSRI drugs as they are all currently sythesized and utilized based on a theory. It's impossible to see neurological components at work real time, so much of the data associated with the regulation of dopamines has to be based on what doctors theorize. Take that into consideration with the fact that the chemical function of each person's brain is as unique as their personality, and it quickly becomes evident why a psychiatrist will want to "try" this drug first, Add this one later, Increase the dosage 6 months from now, and add this drug to counteract this symptom.

A friend of mine was dealing with a mundane life, thought he had depression, and went to a psychiatrist. The psych put him on 10mg Lexapro. 3 days later he couldn't sleep, the doc told him to take diphenhydramine, that made him hallucinate, so the doctor prescribed him Trazadone to sleep. Then he could no longer achieve ejaculation, so the doc gave him viagra. After a few months, he got tired of taking a pill to be happy, taking a pill to go to sleep, taking a pill to wake up, and taking a pill to have sex and just went back to being an grouchy old fart.

Taking Anti-depressants long term is not adviseable by people who have taken them long term. Some people will advise it is a good idea to take a break from time to time and measure progress as anti-depressants will cause a shift in brain function.
